Juniper Square Launches CRE Investment Management Software

It’s a truism that most technologists don’t know real estate, and most real estate folks don’t know technology, so it’s rare to find a team that has a foot planted in both worlds. That’s the story with Juniper Square, a new investment software product conceived by technologists who were also passionate about investing in private real estate. They are bringing a modern software approach to a very staid corner of the industry: investment management. Already, they have more than 50 customers using their software, including some big names like Beacon Capital, and more than 1,000 investments managed through their tools.

After two years of serving a select group of leading real estate investment managers, Juniper Square today announced the launch and general availability of its investment management software.

According to Alex Robinson, Co-Founder and CEO of Juniper Square, clients such as Beacon Capital, The Reliant Group, and Cortland Partners are using the software to help them manage nearly 20,000 investment positions and over $25B in capital.

“Real estate managers today are buried under mountains of spreadsheets and struggle with antiquated systems that are hard-to-use and don’t talk to each other,” said Robinson.” Juniper Square puts an end to that with an easy-to-use, integrated system that supports the entirety of the capital markets operation, from front office to back.”

Juniper Square’s technology integrates a CRM designed for real estate; a secure data room and automated subscription process to streamline fundraising; an investment accounting system that can scale to the most complex funds; and an automated investor reporting capability.

In its 2016 Global Private Equity Fund and Investor Survey, EY found a “seismic shift” in the importance of reporting when investors select a manager, stating, “In just one year, we see a 400% increase in investors that now rank a private equity firm’s ability to handle reporting requirements as the most important when selecting a firm.”

Doug Abbey, Chairman of Swift Real Estate and Juniper Square customer and advisory board member, echoed these findings, “Having recently raised two funds at Swift, I can say that limited partners are increasingly choosing general partners with a focus on their reporting and operations. Juniper Square helps us respond to these increasing demands, and its value proposition is pretty simple: it saves time, it saves money, and our investors love it.”
